Revered Guru Ji said that our traditional games might not disappear in the limelight of modernity, so, Gilli-Danda is renamed as “Gul-Stick”. There is a need of methods to bring rural games to the national level.

“Gul-Stick” in most manners is a class of Cricket only. In this game, bat is replaced with 2 types of sticks which are called as SS Stick (Stop Stroker Stick) and S Stick (Stroker Stick). To convert this traditional game into a modern one, Revered Guru Ji provided every aspect of this game with a new nomenclature. There are 2 teams in this game having 9 players in each team. Revered Pitaji ornated Gilli with a new name Gul, who plays as a batsman with Sticker, who throws gul as Guller, Run as Rush, and fielder as Gulsaver. Binding the game completely with norms, Revered Pitaji named the Pitch used to make rush as GS Area, Crease as G Area, Over as Pack, Wicket Keeper as Gul Keeper, LBW as FBS (Foot Before Stick), Bold Out as Solid Out, Over Throw as Rough Throw, Fielding as Saving, Umpire as Decider, Balling as Gilling, Stump as Lay Pole, Stump Out as Lay Pole Out, Free Hit as Gold Hit, Catch Out as Eat Out, Wide Gul as Out Gul, Maiden Over as Strong Pack etc. For the safety of players, Revered Pitaji facilitated players with special kind of helmets, chest guard to protect chest, pad and gloves etc.

How is Gul Stick Played?

Guller aims at Lay Pole and throws Gul towards Sticker to make him out and stickers hits the gul and runs in GS Area to score points called as Rush. 9 players are posted on the field that are called as Rush Saver who catch the gul. One can score 4, 6, 8 or 10 rush by hitting the gul. Sticker carries two sticks and unlike overs in cricket, the game has packs and 5 guls can be thrown in a pack. The field is demarcated with 4 boundaries of 20 yard, 30 yard, 40 yard and 50 yard. 2 gul savers are posted in the first boundary, all the rest are spread across the field. In this game, Sticker hits the gul thrown by guller and runs to score rush. The place where a gul saver stops the gul, it is kept there. Sticker then hits the gul with S stick this time and scores rush. One who plays the role of umpire in this game is called Decider. There are 2 deciders on the field and the third one acts as Third Decider.
